Ellen was born in Jim Henry township in Miller county, MO. She was the daughter of James Anderson Stone and Priscilla Jane West. Her father was mortally wounded in the Battle of Helena Arkansas. He died about 10 days after the battle in Polk Plantation which was the Confederate Hospital. The family remained in Miller County for a few years after the battle. They moved to Moniteau county as they were being harassed for John being a Confederate. On 9 Jan 1876 she married William E. Williams. Her grandfather, John Warren West married them. John was a Baptist preacher. They farmed the land where William was born (his father's farm, SW corner of Hwy C and CR 120). William contracted tuberculosis in the 1890's and in the mid 90's they had to move to Jefferson City for medical help. William died in 1900 and Olive in 1902, both from tuberculosis. She and her boys moved to Hannibal shortly after Olive's death. In 1910 she married Leonard Bragg. He died in 1923. In 1929 she married Frederick Bangert. He died in Jan 1934. On 1 Mar 1934, Ellen died and she is buried in Hope Cemetery next to her son, George.
