Edward was born around 1730 in Virginia to Edward Corder and mother, unknown. On Sep 1777 he married Susannah Mary. It is not know if Mary was her last name or middle name. They lived in Frederick County VA and are found in there until around the early 1770's. On 6 Sep 1777, he took and oath of allegiance sworn to state in Capt. McCorkles company of Montgomery County, VA militia. On 6 Aug 1782 for 60 pounds he purchased a grant on land in Peak Creek in Montgomery County. He purchased more grants for land in Montgomery County in 1782, 1783, and 1787. He is on the tax list for Montgomery county through 1801. From 1802 through 1810 he is on the Wythe County tax list.
